12th EbA Knowledge Day – From Roadmap to Resilience: Operationalizing EbA Synergies for the 2028 Global Stocktake

Date: Friday, 12 June 2026
Location: Radisson Blu Hotel (formerly known as Marriott Hotel), Platz der Vereinten Nationen 4, 53113 Bonn (next to World Conference Center – location of Bonn Climate Change Conference)
Duration: Full day (09:30 – 19:00 hrs., CET)
Modality: Hybrid
Background & Context:
Nature remains our most vital ally against the triple planetary crisis, yet its capacity to protect nature and people is diminishing. While high-level recognition of Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) has peaked, a significant “implementation gap” persists.
Following the Baku-to-Belém Roadmap and the adoption of the indicators for the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) under the UAE-Belém work program, the global community must now solve the challenge of interoperability—moving beyond fragmented climate and biodiversity reporting toward a unified resilience framework. EbA serves as the primary approach to this challenge, offering a cross-cutting approach that naturally aligns the goals of the three Rio Conventions and beyond into a single operational reality. Consequently, the 12th EbA Knowledge Day moves beyond policy pledges to focus on the technical and financial tools required to treat EbA not just as a public good, but as a critical investable asset class and solution to accelerate climate action ahead of the 2028 Global Stocktake (GST2). This edition explicitly positions EbA at the intersection of ecological, social, and economic resilience to ensure transformative outcomes for the GST2.
FEBA serves as an action-oriented network—a proactive force advancing the technical and financial outputs required to bridge the persistent implementation gap and scale EbA globally. In this vein, this edition also offers a dedicated platform to operationalize the Plan to Accelerate Solutions (PAS) for Biodiversity, Adaptation, and Resilience. By defining key recommendations in implementing the PAS priority actions, the event will inform effective EbA implementation and policymaking towards the COPs and the GST2.
Objectives:
- Catalyse Political & Financial Action: Exploring innovative mechanisms and strengthening the evidence base in the context of the New Collective Quantified Goal on Climate Finance (NCQGCF), leading to UNFCCC COP31.
- Align and strengthen EbA reporting across the Rio Conventions: Facilitate alignment across UN CBD, UNCCD and UNFCCC.
- Foster multi-stakeholder and multi-sectoral Collaboration: Identifying leading opportunities to implement the PAS with FEBA leadership.
- Positioning EbA as an investable asset class.
