Global EbA Fund grantees from Central and Latin America gather to exchange lessons learned on how to link biodiversity conservation and ecosystem health for climate action

Ahead of the CBD COP16, the Global EbA Fund hosted the first of its regional grantee learning exchange workshops from 13-17 October 2025 in Cali, Colombia. Bringing together 12 Global EbA Fund grantees implementing projects across nine countries in Central and South America, the workshop provided an opportunity for the project teams to share their diverse experience and learning to strengthen the community of practice on ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA).
Over the course of three days, the participants explored “how” to link biodiversity conservation and ecosystem health for climate action. The workshop sessions focused on exchanging lessons learned on how the projects work across various ecosystems and entry points to:
- Integrate ecosystem-based adaptation into national policy commitments – NAPs, NDCs and NBSAPs;
- Monitor and evaluate functional data and science supporting the integration of climate and biodiversity; and
- Accelerate finance and unlock investments for the implementation of EbA.
The opportunity to network with other organization working on EbA issues in other countries and contexts was invaluable. The participants were able to identify synergies between projects and to explore potential areas for collaboration to foster EbA in action in Latin America.
The regional workshop for Central and South America was the first in a series of regional learning exchange workshops to be organized by the Global EbA Fund. With a portfolio of more than 50 projects across the globe, the Global EbA Fund is contributing to a wealth of experience and innovation in EbA. Through a series of regional learning exchange workshops, we look forward to sharing more about our lessons learned on EbA in action.
